James P. King Center

The Radford High School Foundation, Inc. spearheaded the drive to construct the James P. King Center on the campus of Radford High School in 1999. Dr. William W. King contributed $100,000 on behalf of the King family to initiate what would become a $1.2 million fund raising campaign by the foundation to complete the center. This facility houses a full size gymnasium used for basketball and volleyball. The center is also equipped with a modern strength and fitness training area, a classroom for teaching, and locker-room facilities. The foundation served as the liaison in a successful partnership between the schools and City of Radford to raise all of the necessary funds and complete construction in 18 months.

Radford Municipal Baseball Field

In 2003, the foundation spearheaded the drive to construct the Radford Municipal Baseball Field near the Recreation Center on George Street. The field was completed in 2006 and the Bobcats inaugurated the field with a win over Narrows in 2007.  The public/private project continues with the foundation having raised over $600,000, currently leasing the facility from the City of Radford.  The field serves as the home field for RHS and JV Bobcat baseball teams and is also used for Recreation league baseball in the summer.  The Municipal Field has been a big tourist draw for many years as the foundation facilitates tournaments which can attract up to 25 teams and visitors from many states on the east coast.
